Wiederholung und Errinerung...

This past week has been mostly about getting you to think about and reconnect with you knowledge of German.  For my Level 1 kids, it's mostly been about getting to know each other.  For the rest, we've played some games that, hopefully, got you thinking "Wow, I remember kind of a lot!"

Here's where our work begins.  I thought, as a prelude to the week to come, I'd offer up my plans.  This way, you know exactly what's in store for you... (ominous laughter here).

Deutsch 1:

Montag: Name game continues.  Then, the much anticipated Alphabet Lied!  By the end of the day, you'll know how to say "My name is..." AND how to spell it!

Dienstag:  Practicing the alphabet and spelling in German.  Deutsch macht Spaß!

Mittwoch:  We'll do some listening practice and some speaking practice - making sure you get this alphabet stuff down.

Donnerstag:  Colors!  Yep - you'll have your name, the alphabet and colors down by Thursday.  Big week.

Freitag:  Our first quiz together.  I know I promised you quizzes on Thursdays, but we really needed an extra day to practice.  Sorry to disappoint...  This one will be oral - you're going to have to come to me and spell your name.  We'll finish up with some hangman if we have time.

Deutsch 2:

Montag:  Review of 'sein' and present tense verb conjugation.  We need this.  It'll be fun.

Dienstag:  A little writing practice - getting those skills back in shape!

Mittwoch:  Modalverben - yes, something new!

Donnerstag:  Some practice with Modalverben.  Oh, and you'll get to listen to some Rammstein. No quiz this week.  Are you sad?

Freitag: More Rammstein & Modalverben.  Ok, it's a loose connection, but I think it'll work!

Deutsch 3/4:

Montag:  Wiederholen u. üben: Verben in Vergangenheitsformen (Partizip II usw.) und Futur.

Dienstag: Ein Bisschen schreiben - Verbformen üben.  Mündliche Präsentationen.

Mittwoch: Rollenspielen.

Donnerstag: Grammatik wiederholen: Akkusativ und Dativ.

Freitag:  Ein Bisschen lesen, danach spielen wir Gefängnis.

To my new students, I've enjoyed meeting all of you and am excited to be a part of you learning this wonderful, magical language.  I'm thrilled to be the one to introduce German culture, history and language to you and look forward to taking you on a journey through the language of 'das Land der Dichter und Denker!'

And to those of you I already know, it's great to see all of you back.  Los geht's! and remember:

Deutsch macht Spaß!

Wilkommen!

Guten Tag!  Welcome to the Paschal High School German class blog.  Check back frequently or subscribe as I use this space to post links to course materials for all levels, to update you or expand on classwork, post Hausaufgaben and generally entertain you.  Maybe not, but you'll have to keep checking to find out.  On the right, over there under "Nützliche Links," you'll find a series of language resource links that I find useful.  I'll also link to random bits of entertaining German-y stuff from time to time.  Look under "Witzige Links."

All homework assignments and handouts will be posted online as well, so if you are absent or misplace your binder, check the googledocs link and you can print your own handout.

Comments are welcome.  We will, I hope, have some lively discussions here.  As always, understand that comments will be moderated and that any misuse of this page or other online presence I create will not be tolerated.

Again, welcome to the 2011-2012 school year.  I'm thrilled to be back and look forward to a fun, entertaining and productive year!
